A gift to Moses Brown in your will or revocable trust enables you to create a legacy, support our mission, and make a difference in the lives of future generations of MB students. A bequest:
Your bequest can be a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your estate. Because a will is an important legal document, you should seek an attorney's help. We also encourage you to discuss your intentions with us at Moses Brown to ensure that your wishes will be properly followed and recognized.
If you have questions, wish to discuss your intentions, or share the news of your future gift; please contact Perry Buroker, Director of Leadership Giving, at 401-831-7350 ext. 289. Thank you!
A general bequest
“I give (a specific asset) or (_____% of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate) to Moses Brown School Foundation (EIN# 23-7067506), located in Providence, RI, for its general use and purposes.”
A bequest for a specific purpose
“I give ($_________) or (a specific asset) or (_____% of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate) to Moses Brown School Foundation (EIN# 23-7067506), located in Providence, RI, to be used for the following purpose: (for example, to establish an endowed scholarship fund or support an academic program).”
Statement of restrictions
If you wish to restrict your bequest provision in order to establish a fund for a specific purpose—such as an endowed scholarship fund—we ask that you include the following in your provision language:
“This gift is to establish an endowment fund to be known as (name of fund), the income from which to be used for (state purpose). If the Moses Brown Board of Trustees, in its sole judgment, determines that the original intent is no longer feasible, the school may use the income for such purposes as, in its sole judgment, will most nearly fulfill the original intent.”
Retirement Plan Beneficiary Language
Naming the Moses Brown School Foundation (EIN# 23-7067506) as the beneficiary of a qualified retirement plan asset such as a 401(k), 403(b), IRA, Keogh or profit-sharing pension plan is easy, should not cost you any attorney fees, and will accomplish a charitable goal while realizing significant tax savings. Simply request a change-of-beneficiary form from your plan administrator. When you have finished, please return the form to your plan administrator and notify MB.
